QUICK CHECKS
Toilet Braille
- Door position
- Where required, use the latch-side wall, nearest sign edge 50–300 mm from the architrave. Use the door if that wall position is not possible.
- Height
- Set tactile and Braille content 1200–1600 mm above finished floor level; a single line of tactile characters sits 1250–1350 mm above it. Measure to the content, not the top of the panel.
- Fix
- Level the sign and use the specified fixing system on a clean, dry surface. Keep raised lettering and Braille clear of adhesive.
Check the facility
- LH and RH refer to the side grab rail from the person’s viewpoint while seated on the toilet.
- Ambulant cubicle signs go on the cubicle door. An ambulant toilet is different from a wheelchair-accessible toilet; use the correct symbol.
- Match toilet, shower and combined-facility wording to the approved access schedule. Where a toilet group has no accessible unisex toilet, check the required direction sign to the nearest one.
