QUICK CHECKS
Hazard & PPE
- Select
- Match symbols and wording to the site risk assessment, equipment information and approved safety schedule. Confirm required PPE with the responsible team.
- Position
- Keep signs visible on the relevant approach, before a hazard or restriction. Keep emergency equipment, controls and access clear.
- Fit
- Use the fixing specified for the surface and environment. A sign does not replace guarding, isolation, access controls or a safe work procedure.
Site-specific checks
- Healthcare and controlled areas: the responsible facility team approves medical gas, radiation, MRI, laser, infection-control and waste notices. Confirm cleaning-product compatibility.
- Parking and traffic: confirm speed, direction and actual vehicle limits against the approved layout. Posts, overhead signs and structural connections require their specified fixing detail.
- Height bars: measure the minimum clearance throughout the complete vehicle route, including ramps, pipes and beams. Position the warning before the restriction and use the approved suspension/structural detail. Recheck after resurfacing or added services.
- Pool and spa signs: confirm actual depth, current CPR artwork, notices and location with the operator and jurisdiction. In NSW the CPR sign must be easily readable from 3 m; portable pools also need the required nearby CPR sign. Existing older signs have different rules from new pools or substantially changed/rebuilt fences.
