QUICK CHECKS
Fire equipment
- Identify
- Match the sign to the actual extinguisher, blanket, hose reel, hydrant, booster, valve or system in the approved fire-equipment schedule.
- Position
- Keep the location sign visible on approach, above or adjacent to the equipment where specified. Use the schedule’s mounting height and applicable local fire-service guidance.
- Fix
- Use the specified substrate-compatible fixing. Keep equipment, operating access, escape routes and hose deployment clear.
Equipment exceptions
- Hose reels: identify a recessed or obscured reel above or adjacent to it, and mark its enclosure where provided. Enclosure wording is FIRE HOSE REEL in contrasting letters at least 50 mm high.
- Extinguishers follow NCC E1D14 and AS 2444:2001 as adopted. Blankets use AS 2444 and the equipment schedule; NCC E1D14 applies to extinguishers, not blankets.
- Hose reels use NCC E1D3/AS 2441:2005; hydrants use NCC E1D2/AS 2419.1:2021 as adopted. Boosters, valves and sprinkler equipment follow their approved system drawings, standards and local authority detail.
